YouTube's User Experience Design Intern opening for Summer 2027 is listed on Google Careers for Bengaluru, Karnataka. Applications opened on 27 October 2026 and close on 4 November 2026. The opportunity targets students graduating in 2028, not everyone interested in a summer design internship.
Jobsii checked the official vacancy and application route on 1 November 2026. The application link reaches Google's account sign-in page. No private account was accessed and no application was submitted. Read the qualification requirements before spending time tailoring a portfolio.
Applicants must be studying full-time towards a B.Des, M.Des, B.Tech or M.Tech in Human-Computer Interaction, Product Design, Interaction Design or a related field, graduating in 2028. They must return to their degree programme after the internship.
Minimum requirements include experience with user interviews or surveys, applying user-centred design in projects or work, design tools such as Figma or Framer Studio, and a portfolio demonstrating technical design principles. Interaction, graphic or motion-design strength and analytical, visual and communication skills are preferred.
The work involves flows, wireframes, specifications, prototypes, design-system contributions, cross-functional validation and design reviews. A senior designer provides mentoring. Named product areas are examples, not guaranteed team choices. The page also states Google's general English-proficiency requirement.
Bengaluru is the advertised location. This vacancy does not specify a remote or hybrid arrangement, stipend, compensation amount, exact internship length or joining day beyond Summer 2027. Do not import a salary estimate or a ten-to-twelve-week duration from another Google internship.
The closing notice gives 4 November but no cutoff hour or timezone. Apply ahead of that date rather than assume a midnight deadline. The reviewed page does not publish a seat count, numerical age limit, minimum marks or interview timetable. Ask through the official recruitment process about any practical terms that affect your availability.
Use the official vacancy's Apply control. Google's application help explains that applicants sign in with a Google Account and create a Careers Profile, which stores their information and resume. Use an account you monitor, because application updates are sent to its email address.
The help page sets a resume limit of 2 MB, permits changes before submission and warns that submitted applications cannot be edited. It also limits applications to three jobs in a rolling thirty-day period and requires ninety days before reapplying to the same job. Check your existing applications before using another slot.
Prepare your resume and portfolio access carefully. The role requires a design portfolio even though the general application help describes some profile sections as optional. A general interface setting does not remove a role-specific qualification. Additional questions and materials behind sign-in were not inspected during Jobsii's public-page check.
The following advice is editorial preparation, not an unpublished Google assessment or a promise of what an interviewer will ask. A useful case study lets a reviewer trace the connection between a user problem, the evidence you gathered and the design decisions you made.
Choose one project you genuinely understand. It can be coursework, a personal project or collaborative work. State the setting and your own contribution immediately. If teammates conducted the research or built the prototype, distinguish their work from yours. Clear attribution is more convincing than implying that you performed every task.
Describe the original problem before showing polished screens. Explain who encountered it, what they were trying to do and why the existing experience fell short. Avoid treating your preferred interface as proof of a user need. Show what you learned and identify any assumption that still needs validation.
For interview or survey evidence, explain your method and its limitations. Report only research you actually carried out. A small sample can provide useful observations, but it does not justify claiming that every viewer or creator behaves the same way. Remove identifying details from quotes, recordings and screenshots before sharing them.
Show at least one decision that changed because of evidence or feedback. Present the earlier idea, what challenged it and the revised approach. The goal is to make your reasoning visible. An attractive final screen alone does not explain how you handled competing needs, ambiguity or a constraint.
If you want to practise explaining design work, choose a familiar video-related task, such as returning to an unfinished tutorial. Write a brief account of the user's goal and map the steps in your own proposed experience. Label this as independent practice, not a real YouTube project or company-approved redesign.
Compare two alternatives. For example, one might prioritise an explicit resume action while another emphasises browsing context. Explain the trade-off you are investigating without declaring that either would improve YouTube's actual engagement. You cannot establish a production outcome from a personal concept alone.
Consider an interrupted connection, an empty history and a user navigating without precise pointer control. Describe the expected state and what feedback your design would provide. Keep the scope narrow enough to explain why each screen or transition exists. A modest, coherent flow is easier to assess than an expansive feature collection with unexplained behaviour.
Record what remains untested and how you would investigate it. If your prototype has not been evaluated with users, say so. Do not invent interview participants, usability scores or business metrics to complete a case-study template. An honest next-step plan demonstrates more judgment than fabricated certainty.
Open your portfolio links in a fresh browser session to check whether a reviewer can access them. If a project is confidential, share only material you are authorised to disclose and provide suitable access instructions. Remove unnecessary file weight and verify that text remains readable without a large display.
Make your expected graduation month and year, degree, relevant research experience and personal contribution easy to locate. Confirm that you will return to your full-time course after the internship. These checks connect your evidence to the published requirements; they do not guarantee selection or replace Google's review.
Before submitting, check the account, contact details, attached resume and portfolio link one final time. After submitting, use the Careers Profile to review the recorded application status. Preserve your own copy of what you sent, and avoid interpreting an application receipt as an interview invitation or offer.
